Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers: Rakhma's 40th Anniversary Dementia Fair & Awareness Walk

Rakhma has spent 40 years at the forefront of residential memory care, dedicated to providing inclusive, person-centered support to all individuals. Join us in marking this incredible milestone at an event designed to inspire, educate, and entertain the entire family! This is a drop-in event, so you’re welcome to join us whenever you can and stay for as long as you'd like.

Then, dive into our “dementia fair,” packed with engaging activities for all ages:

  • Immersive Dementia Experience: Participate in our immersive dementia experience, facilitated by For Their Thoughts Foundation of Oceanside, California, where you'll gain a firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by those living with memory loss through a series of interactive and sensory activities.

This summer, Rakhma’s team had a chance to try out the immersive dementia experience. It was an incredible and eye-opening event!

  • Ask the Experts: Gain valuable insights and tips on memory loss from renowned guest speakers, Janelle Johnson and Lori La Bey, who will lead “Caring Conversations”— an interactive Q&A session on how to better handle the challenges of memory loss.

  • Family Games and Activities: Enjoy a variety of games, trivia, and activities designed for the whole family.

  • Caregiver Resources: Discover a wealth of memory care resources from our carefully chosen partners all dedicated to advancing inclusive, compassionate and high quality memory care.

  • Live Music: Enjoy live music performances throughout the event by one of Rakhma’s favorites, Bobby and Christine!

This is more than just an event; it's a celebration of community, compassion, and Rakhma's four-decade-long commitment to providing quality care for individuals living with memory loss. Join us for this special opportunity to be part of something meaningful and fun!

We are honored to welcome renowned dementia experts Lori La Bey and Janelle Johnson, who will lead an interactive session titled “Caring Conversations.” They will share valuable education on dementia care best practices and insights into living well, inviting participants to engage in meaningful dialogue.

Meet our Guest Speakers

Janelle Johnson is an acclaimed dementia care specialist, speaker, and trainer who has worked within the local memory care community for over 35 years, including a role as Rakhma’s Executive Director in the 2000s.

Lori La Bey is a top-ranking dementia podcaster, author, keynote speaker, trainer, and founder of Alzheimer's Speaks. Lori has been recognized by Oprah, Maria Shriver, Sharecare, and AARP MN.
